Digigirl posted a great little review of Kismet’s Kiss today. My fave parts: “Incorporating magic, espionage, betrayal, love and family, Kismet’s Kiss is a keeper” as well as “settle in for a delicious romantic fantasy!” She posted the five-star review at Amazon, too.
And then Mandi and Tori of Smexy Books posted their top books of 2010. (They both tried to get their lists down to 20, but couldn’t quite do it. Heh, I know how they feel.) Tori reviewed Kismet’s Kiss in October and has now put it in her Top 22 of 2010. Here’s the fab quote: “A provocative and lush fantasy that calls to all romance lovers.” That’s a terrific “pull quote” for sure.
I’ve run out of room for all the review snippets at Amazon, where they’re limited to five. I might need to start a page on my website to corral them all.
What a nice problem to have. :D
Oh, and here’s a bonus link full of hysterical laughter for you, I promise: Hyperbole and a Half’s latest post, “The Year Kenny Loggins Ruined Christmas.” You’re welcome.
Wheeeeeeeee! Kismet’s Kiss is now available in a gorgeous trade paperback at Amazon for $7.99. The Kindle version is just 99 cents!
Both prices are for a limited time during my Winter Sale, so, um, you might want to grab them now. :)
I priced them low for this sale, but the drawback of the $7.99 price is that it’s too low to qualify for Expanded Distribution, which means Kiss can *only* be purchased at Amazon (or its subsidiary, CreateSpace) for the duration of the sale. Sorry about that. :(
However, that’s a fantastic price for a 6″ x 9″ trade paperback (which are larger than mass-market paperbacks, and usually much pricier).
Anyway, I’m absolutely thrilled with the way the paperback turned out. Getting Kiss approved and up at Amazon ended up taking quite a bit longer than I’d hoped (gee, that’ll teach me to use “standard” shipping instead of express), but in the end all is well.
It’s been quite a learning experience, but I’m looking forward to the next opportunity with The Source of Magic a few months from now.
Oh, and Kiss now has 15 reviews at Amazon (all 5 or 4 stars, averaging 4.8), too. W00T!
That’s right, just 99 cents for the ebook version. WOOHOO! This book is getting AMAZING reviews. Just a tiny sample of them:
Smexy Books: “A magical, exhilarating, sensual delight.”
The Romance Reviews: “A must-read for all fantasy romance lovers.”
Coffee Time Romance: “So much sexual tension that the pages are likely to burn your fingers as you eagerly beg for more.”

It’s the smug satisfaction that comes after working out, isn’t it?
I haz it. I also have sore legs.
First time going to the gym. Is this the start of a new habit for me?
Well, if my history of exercise is any indication, perhaps not. I can’t even get excited about skiing this season, which is unusual.
All the same, being on a treadmill was more fun than I expected, and then I topped it off with two hours of salsa dancing. Not bad for this lazybutt.
Best of both worlds: a treadmill desk. Heck, even this would be great. Of course, I’d have to buy a treadmill first…
“5 Cups” from Coffee Time Romance. :-D

And in addition to Smashwords (which the review mentions), Kismet’s Kiss is now available at:
Amazon (Kindle US/worldwide, Kindle UK, and soon print US—at a really low price for a limited time)
Barnes & Noble
Goodreads
Kobo
iBooks
Sony Reader store
Diesel
…and coming soon, Google Books.
Happy reading!
I promised more news, and here it is. In addition to Kismet’s Kiss being for sale at Goodreads, I had an amazing triple WIN over the last week.
(1) Robin Ludwig of rldprint.com finished designing my delicious new print cover:
(2) I got the beautiful printed proof from CreateSpace. WOW.
(3) CreateSpace now has the print version of Kismet’s Kiss for sale–at just $7.99!
How about that for awesome? :D That price might be short-lived, but I think I’ll be able to keep it there for at least a month or so.
I gather that it may take a couple of weeks before the print version of Kiss shows up at Amazon, and I promise to mention it here when it does. (CreateSpace is a subsidiary of Amazon, although its shipping is separate. CS gives authors a much higher royalty per book, so if you’d be paying for shipping anyway, please consider buying Kismet’s Kiss from CreateSpace instead of Amazon. But I know Amazon is the king of sales.)
Anyway, I’m a huge Kindle fan and much prefer to buy ebooks these days, but seeing this cover in print–3-D and color–is mind-blowing. I was worried the cover wouldn’t be as nice in person as it was on the screen, but it turned out to be just the opposite. The monitor can’t even come close to displaying all the beauty. :D
Even the hubby who “doesn’t understand this writing thing” got excited for me when he saw it, and I did the bouncy dance across the kitchen.
Here’s my kitty being all proud, along with a larger view of the lovely front cover:
I now have an electronic (ePub) version of Kismet’s Kiss for sale at Goodreads for $2.99. I didn’t even realize that was an option until a couple of days ago. W00T!
Goodreads sells DRM-free ePub ebooks (“DRM-free” meaning you’re allowed to convert them from one format to another or move them from device to device) and lets you sample a nice chunk before you decide to buy.
And there’s more great news coming shortly. There’s too much to cram it all into one post. :)

I don’t think I’m alone in that! The ladies of the Ruby Slippered Sisterhood are interviewing me today, so come join the chat about romance, fantasy, and the stories that influenced our young minds. :) http://www.rubyslipperedsisterhood.com/index.php/spotlight-on-cate-rowan.
Woohoo, I’m nearly finished formatting the print version of Kismet’s Kiss! I hope to have it up in a couple of weeks, and it’s looking excellent that I’ll be able to sell it for an amazing $7.99.
I’ve done the formatting in Microsoft Word, thanks in part to the guidance of Perfect Pages, but I’m also drooling over an Adobe InDesign CS5 offering at eBay. InDesign is the industry standard for page layout. I’m a perfectionist and want everything to be just right, and I naturally want all the right tools. (Sadly, the particular tool of InDesign would cost almost $400–still a bargain, since it’s almost $700 from my drug dealer, Amazon, but still beyond what I’m willing to pay right now.)
Either way, though, spending time perfecting things is a problem of mine. If I put all my time into fixing what I’ve already done, when do I have time to create new things–and how much more time will it take to perfect them and get them to market?
I’m the kind of person who will spend a day (or a week) tweaking something from 99.9% to 99.91% perfection. Is that a good use of my time? Probably not, since 100% perfection isn’t attainable anyway. (I know that intellectually, but getting myself to act on it still takes some effort…)
And not only do I lose time I could use to create, I also lose time I could invest in introducing people to my books. (But I want my books to be perfect when people read them, the Inner Perfectionist whines.) *headdesk*
Well, at least the new cover will be gorgeous, thanks to Robin Ludwig. :) I look forward to sharing it.

I saw the announcement for National Blog Jog Day and thought, “What the heck, sounds like fun!” So I joined the circle. (It feels like when the Internet was new and going from link to link was a random walk through the world. Well, okay, it’s still kind of like that, just a much larger walk these days, LOL.)
To my new visitors, thank you for stopping by! I’m an author of fantasy romance and I’m waving hello from my home in the Sierra Nevada mountains (currently blanketed with fresh snow). I hope you enjoy my website. When you’re finished exploring, jog on over to the next site in the circle, ACPI, Academy for Coaching Parents International. If you want to see a different blog in the jog, go to http://blogjogday.blogspot.com.
Thanks for visiting!
